Hermes Logistik Gruppe Deutschland (HLGD) has acquired a 28.5 percent stake in LieferFactory GmbH, with registered office in Frankfurt am Main. This company offers a specialist "Liefery" service, providing same-day or time-specific delivery, and currently works with 2,500 couriers in over 50 German cities. Hermes is using this collaborative process to further extend its range of package-related services for commercial shippers. Clients can now use the Liefery same-day delivery service as an additional delivery option in many regions across Germany.

"Increasing numbers of customers expect to be able to schedule the specific time that their distance-trade goods will be delivered. By investing in LieferyFactory GmbH, which is already operating successfully in the market, we are building out our strategic options and shaping a growing business area from a leading position," explains Frank Rausch, CEO of Hermes Logistik Gruppe Deutschland and Hermes Transport Logistics GmbH. "There is rising demand for same-day delivery, particularly in the areas of technology, sports and fresh produce: demand that we are able to fulfil with our first-class service."

LieferFactory GmbH was founded as an independent business from the time:matters group of companies in 2014, and already works for notable trading companies such as SportScheck, mymuesli and Mövenpick Wein Deutschland. The Liefery network is currently focused on around 50 metropolitan areas, in which more than 2,500 couriers supply deliveries to recipients round the clock. If regional requirements are met, collection and delivery are completed within 90 minutes or at a defined time on the same day.

Hermes now intends to increasingly offer "Same Day Service powered by Liefery" to the commercial shippers and online traders that it already serves. Clients will then be able to order very fast delivery both online and offline. For example, if Liefery is displayed as a shipping option in the online shop, the goods are shipped from the trader's closest branch.

When it comes to store-based retail, the Liefery delivery is ordered at the counter. The customer can then track the delivery status for his/her purchase at any time using shipment tracking.

"Seeing that a logistics provider as experienced as Hermes is impressed by our service makes me and our entire team incredibly proud. In the past year, we have developed an IT platform in a very short period of time, meaning that we are now able to process far more than 100,000 shipments. We will now work with Hermes to build on this success, and make Liefery the leading supplier for same-day delivery in Europe," says Franz- Josef Miller, Liefery Co-Founder and Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
