KI’s growing sustainability story reflected in its new Environmental, Social and Governance Report

KI Europe is pleased to launch its new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, highlighting the progress it continues to make across sustainability, people and responsible business practices. Demonstrating a practical approach focused on continuous improvement, the report brings together all aspects of KI’s sustainability journey, from responsible product design and material choices to long-lasting warranties and community impact. By showcasing key developments and achievements in one place, the report provides a clear view of how KI is embedding responsible practices throughout its operations while creating long-term value for customers, colleagues, and stakeholders. 

KI’s commitment to continuous improvement can be seen through its ongoing efforts to maximise recycled content in its polypropylene products without compromising on the durability and quality it is known for. This was demonstrated in 2025, when it reached a minimum of 50% post-consumer recycled content across all colours of its renowned Postura+ one piece chairs, removing 1,000 tonnes of virgin plastic from its supply chain annually.  Additionally, the Sebel chair is made from 100% post-consumer waste, and KI’s entire UK manufactured portfolio of polypropylene chairs contains a minimum of 30% recycled content.  

The report also highlights KI's design ethos, centred on creating products that stand the test of time. Built for durability, quality and long-term performance, KI's products are backed by industry-leading warranties, with an average warranty period of 17 years across products sold annually. By extending product lifecycles, KI helps reduce the environmental impact associated with furniture replacement while delivering long-term value.  

KI’s sustainable efforts have been held to a high standard for decades, with certifications like FISP (The Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme), which promotes best practice across environmental, social and economic sustainability, being held by the company since 2013.  

Jeremy McWhinney, Operations and Finance Director, commented “In 2025, we were among the first to achieve certification to the new FISP (S) criteria, which strengthens the link between sustainability and circularity by introducing product-focused requirements. Being an early adopter of FISP (S) reflects our commitment to leading the way in eco-design and end-of-life strategies, ensuring KI remains at the forefront of positive change in our industry.”  

Other respected sustainable certifications and achievements held by KI include ISO14001 for over 20 years, SCS Indoor Advantage Gold, SCS Recycled Material Certification and The International EPD system.
