20 more Isuzu's fill the GAP at 3.5t and 7.5t

The latest order for 20 additional Isuzu rigid trucks for the UK's largest independent plant and tool hire company GAP Group means that the Glasgow-based company now operates a total of 41 Isuzu's within its fleet. 10 new 3.5t Grafters and 10 new 7.5t Forwards are currently being introduced into the 374-strong GAP transport fleet. This new order for 20 more Isuzu's follows on from 18 that have been purchased by GAP over the last 12 months.

According to GAP Group's Transport Manager Bobby Allan, "We took our first Isuzu 7.5 tonner in November 2007 and after a lengthy initial evaluation timeframe, the marque has now substantially increased its presence within our fleet and Isuzu Truck has become a key business partner for GAP."

This latest 20-vehicle order for GAP Group consists of 10 Isuzu Grafter 3.5 t twin rear wheeled rigids and 10 Isuzu Forward N75.190 7.5 t rigids. The Grafters are all fitted with dropside bodies and rear tail lifts and are also used for towing the company's 3.5t plant and low loader trailers. The Isuzu Forward 7.5t rigids are specified with the company's popular Easyshift transmission and have a mix of either flat bed bodies with cranes or Beavertail bodies with a winch and electro hydraulic ramp at the rear. The latter derivative is to facilitate the transportation of plant and equipment between depots and customers all over the UK.

Explaining the reasons behind the growing popularity of Isuzu within the GAP fleet, Bobby Allan explains, "At 3.5 tonnes, the Isuzu Grafters are ideal for towing our 3.5t plant trailers without any adverse effect on the vehicles performance, whilst at 7.5 tonnes the Isuzu Forwards give us the payload that we require for certain applications. In either case, the Isuzu product reliability is proven to be second-to-none as too has the service and backup we get from the organisation across the UK."

All 41 Isuzu rigids operated by GAP Group have been supplied through the local Isuzu dealer in Glasgow, Imperial Commercials, with whom GAP have developed a close working relationship.

"Building long-term partnerships with new customers is a particular strength of the Isuzu operation at both fleet and dealer level. By developing our CARE programme with customers such as GAP we can forge strong relationships over time. This is clearly demonstrated with the latest orders from them for our 3.5t Grafters and 7.5t Forward trucks that have a choice of specifications to meet the individual requirements of this particular customer," said Keith Child, Marketing Director, Isuzu Truck UK.
