Scottish waste management firm, The William Tracey Group, has expanded it's Hazardous waste operations into the North East of England following the acquisition of Gateshead-based Tank Cleaning Services Ltd (TCS) in December 2009 and its subsequent incorporation into William Tracey Limited from 1st April 2010.

In a bid to build upon the geographical reach of the companies Hazardous Waste services the Gateshead site, which also provides services for Industrial Cleaning and Tank Manufacturing & Repair, will provide The William Tracey Groups existing customers in the North East with a more local service while being ideally located to help grow the company's market share in the area.

With existing Industrial Cleaning operations based in Bradford and Manchester and a recent Bioplant partnership with Cramlington based Pharamaceutical company, Shasun Pharma Solutions, the William Tracey Group and partners are looking forward to exploring the new challenges and opportunities the North East has to offer for environmental and resource management services.

Michael Tracey, managing director of The William Tracey Group and recently named MBE on the Queens Honours list published in early June 2010, said:

"We strive to develop innovative environmental solutions to cement our position at the forefront of the waste management field. The new Gateshead site reinforces our commitment to invest in the business to ensure the market benefits from the best possible service."

He continued: "The new Gateshead site compliments the offering from the Group, expanding the geographical reach and providing new services to existing customers across the North East of England - adding environmental benefits whilst helping to manage on-going costs. We are pleased to say that TCS's previous owners, Sue and Jim Brewis have joined the William Tracey Group and we are delighted to have them on board to help us to grow the Gateshead operation."

The Gateshead site, formerly Tank Cleaning Service Limited, has been operating at the forefront of hazardous waste treatment and environmental cleaning for over 40 years. The previous family owners, Sue and Jim Brewis, continue their involvement with the business with a view to assisting with the further development of the William Tracey Group's North East Operations.

The William Tracey Group, which is now one of the largest waste and resource management companies in the UK, is looking forward to an exciting period of development with new sites in West Lothian, Ayrshire and now the North East as well as the Group's first venture into Renewable Energy with a commercial partnership entered into in relation to Anaerobic Digestion with such plant currently under construction in Central Scotland.
