Fareham-based Applied Driving Techniques (ADT) has been recognised at the annual Commercial Fleet Awards, scooping the Customer Partnership Initiative of the Year category for its work with energy company SSE. The company received the award at a ceremony in Birmingham, which was hosted by actress Sally Phillips and attended by more than 600 business leaders and fleet professionals. It is the second time in recent months that ADT has won a prestigious industry accolade having been successful at the Brake Fleet Safety Awards in September.

ADT teamed up with SSE to implement a detailed fleet compliance and risk management programme across 15,500 drivers in the UK. Covering all risk assessments, licence checking, grey fleet checking and permit to drive requirements, the initiative was developed in line with SSE’s corporate strategy to ensure the company is meeting its commitment to fleet safety and Duty of Care.

Andy Phillips, Director of Applied Driving Techniques said: “This latest success demonstrates the proven ability of our fleet compliance and risk management solutions to improve road safety, reduce costs, streamline business processes and protect corporate reputation. We have worked closely with the SSE team across numerous divisions within their business to meet a wide range of demands and overcome numerous operational challenges. This partnership approach has helped deliver hugely positive results and the Commercial Fleet Award is testament to all the hard work and commitment.”

Mark Laker, Management of Road Risk (MoRR) Project Manager at SSE commented: “By teaming up with ADT we have been able to ensure we are best placed to understand and minimise the risk factors a fleet operation faces in order to meet legal obligations, improve driver safety and ultimately save lives. We are committed to highest levels of road safety and ethical behaviour in everything we do, so better protecting our employees, the local community in areas we work in and the wider general public is an important business priority.”
