FM Industry Ball Raises £29k for the Royal Marsden
The FM Industry Ball was held this week in London and was a roaring success, raising over £29K for this year’s chosen charity, the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
Over 350 leading players from the sector danced until the early hours at the event, which was held in the glamorous surroundings of the Grand Connaught Rooms and also included a charity auction. Mitie, OCS Group, RICS, Skanska, Capita, Barclays and BIFM were among the large number of companies and organisations from across the industry who booked tables.
The Royal Marsden Hospital was chosen by the event organisers this year in memory of Ismena Clout, the immediate past chairman of BIFM and a major figure in the industry. She died in September 2014 following a 10-year battle with cancer.
Myles Waud from the event’s promoters City Sports Management, said: “This event has raised an incredible sum of money for the Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer treatment centre which pioneers innovative new treatments. The £29K raised on the night is a fantastic tribute to Ismena Clout, and donations are still coming in. Thank you to all of our guests for making 2015 such a success, and we look forward to 2016.”
The event was organised by a committee who represent a cross section of the industry: Jeremy Waud (Incentive FM Group); David Sharp (International Workplace); Cathy Hayward (Magenta Associates) and Nick Atherton (Morphose). Next year the event will be held on Thursday 24th March at the same venue with an additional 100 places to keep up with demand.
Jeremy Waud, Chairman at Incentive FM Group, commented: “The 2015 event again fulfilled our aim to be a fun evening ‘by the industry for the industry’ with no sponsors and no direct affiliation to any industry trade bodies or media organisations. It’s great that the event managed to raise even more than the £23k raised last year, for such an important cause.”
Incentive FM has also recently organised a successful charity ball at St Mark’s Shopping Centre in Lincoln, raising £6,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Nikki North, Incentive FM facilities manager at the centre, organised the black tie event at the Doubletree Hotel in Lincoln which hosted 150 attendees.
