Arcade Llandysul Ltd, the supplier of wood burning and multi-fuel stoves, has awarded a contract to DMF Projects for the provision of a mezzanine floor solution at a new retail development in Cross Hands near Swansea. Under the agreement, DMF Projects will create an additional 1,750 sq ft of floor space to increase the retail footprint by more than 60 per cent.

Arcade has taken two linked units at the retail site including office space measuring a total of almost 3,500 sq ft. The company has tasked DMF Projects with developing an L-shaped display area using two mezzanine floors that match up with some existing flooring.

DMF Projects will design and build the entire solution, including the organisation of planning permission. The company will not only provide the mezzanine floors, but also supply the handrail, lighting above and below the floor, and fire cladding. The stairs will be enclosed to create a fire-protected enclosure in order to meet building regulations.

Mark Ludgate at Arcade Llandysul Ltd commented: "We are looking to expand our presence within Wales by extending our retail network with new sites. However, this growth needs to be undertaken in an effective manner, so we have teamed with DMF Projects to optimise the available space at Cross Hands to make the most of this great location."

Derek Scott, Sales Director of DMF Projects said: "With the difficult trading conditions, many retailers are now looking at ways of increasing available store space without a high financial commitment or additional operating costs. We are able to use our expertise and knowledge to help businesses such as Arcade Llandysul to overcome some of their challenges in terms of space availability, revenue pressure and cashflow."
