Young Drivers - Do your insurers let you down, if you have a non fault claim?

How to handle if you have a non-fault claim
Published 22 December 2020
Most young drivers, pay a substantial premium, to insure their car. On average, it costs Car insurance in the UK now costs young drivers about 10% of their salary, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI). This is more than five times the average for all age groups. In the past decade, the number of teenagers learning to drive has fallen by nearly 30%; mainly because of the rising cost of insurance.

One might expect, given the very high prices they pay; that younger drivers would be looked after properly if they have an accident which is not their fault. However, research shows that most are offered a very poor service or no help at all. Frequently, an accident management company will get calls from drivers who have been told;
  1. They are not entitled to a courtesy car because they are under 21
  2. That their insurer requires them to pay £1000s in policy excess
  3. Often that their insurer wants them to pay the rest of their premium off, out of any settlement figure.
Fortunately, a non-fault accident management company can help. No matter how old you are, if you have a non-fault accident claim; they will supply a free courtesy car, arrange free accident repairs, and deal with any personal injury claim. The accident management company will claim directly off the third party insurers, so you pay no policy excess or any other fee. So long as you have had a clean license for at least six months, a non-fault accident management company will be able to arrange a free courtesy car.

You will have a car delivered to your home. If your car is not repairable, you will have a free courtesy car until you have been paid the pre-accident value. If you need a non-fault accident courtesy car with a ‘black-box’ fitted, or an automatic, or an adapted vehicle, this can also be supplied.

In conclusion, whilst all drivers can benefit from calling an accident management company, rather than using their insurers, to deal with non-fault accident claims; this is especially true for young drivers. They will not have to pay any excess, never mind the rest of the year’s insurance premium. All aspects of their non-fault accident claim will be looked after- at no cost.

Care should be taken in selecting which accident management company to call. They should be registered with the UK Govt Claims Management Regulator and should be approved by the FCA.
