ISG Strengthens Specialist Technical Fit Out Capability

ISG has promoted Paul Sharp to head its specialist technical fit out operation in its UK Engineering business, as the company further strengthens its delivery capability in technically complex fit out projects within the burgeoning healthcare and research and development (R&D) sectors.

Paul started his career as an electrical engineering apprentice with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and became one of the youngest ever professional technology officers at the MoD, aged just 19. Moving into the private sector, Paul worked on the Genome Campus at Hinxton Hall in Cambridge and joined ISG eight years ago bringing his specialist technical expertise to a range of high profile projects.

Most recently, Paul’s specialist team has delivered a cutting-edge cell therapy centre of excellence on the 12th floor of Guy's Hospital in London for Cell Therapy Catapult and a Large Vertebrate research facility at the world-renowned Natural History Museum, where previous schemes have also included an ancient DNA laboratory and a quarantine facility. Paul is currently working on a new stem cell laboratory for King’s College London.

This new role sees Paul target opportunities in the forthcoming Medcity in London, which will collaborate with Oxford and Cambridge to form a world-leading bioscience cluster, where there is significant planned investment in R&D facilities and laboratories. Paul is also tasked with spearheading the roll out of ISG’s specialist offer nationally, focusing on key regional centres that are benefiting from major R&D investment by blue chip international organisations.

Paul commented: “My new role represents a strategic decision by the company to capitalise on many of the world-class technical fit out projects that ISG has delivered, creating a formal structure to take that expertise to the marketplace as a defined service offer. The success of the bioscience cluster in attracting ground breaking academic research and commercial scientific companies from across the world provides considerable opportunity for the business, with its strong credentials delivering highly complex and mission critical projects.”
