Silverdell Director appointed as Chairman of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association
The Asbestos Removal Contractors Association welcomed their new incoming Chairman, Mark Roberts from Silverdell (UK) Limited at the 2009 Annual General Meeting. Mark supersedes Steve Watts following a successful two year period in the position.
Mark has been a long standing Governing Council Member of the Association after joining in 1997 where he held the role of South-West Regional Chairman for 6 years.
Following his appointment Mark said: "It is an honour to be appointed as Chairman for ARCA. I see various challenges affecting the Association throughout my chair. The economy is obviously going to continue to affect the industry as a whole. The public sector has proven more buoyant in the recent economic climate, and we will have to hope that confidence in the commercial side recovers before the widely expected reduction in spending of the public purse. I believe that the industry is becoming a lot more competitive as a result of the economic climate. ARCA will continue to promote the highest standards of Member Companies and the benefit to clients of using an ARCA Member organisation".
He went on to say: "My immediate objectives will be to devise and implement Competency Schemes for Operatives, Supervisors and Contract Managers, to continue to support the ARCA Technical Committee in the excellent publications of Guidance Notes and to continue to support the ARCA Standards Committee in raising and maintaining standards across the industry. It goes without saying that ARCA will continue to promote the Member companies, the benefits to clients of using ARCA Members and to raise the profile of the Association within wider industry underpinned with close dialogue and co-operation with the HSE Through UKATA, ALG, HSE Awareness Campaign Stakeholders Group."
Steve Sadley, Chief Executive of ARCA said "Mark has been a dedicated member of our Governing Council for many years, his appointment to Chairman will give him greater gravitas within the Association and enable us to continue to promote best practice across ARCA and its' member base during his term."
