Total Glass PVC-U windows and communal entrance doors in £1 million flats facelift

Grey on white PVC-U windows and high-security aluminium communal entrance doors supplied and fitted by Merseyside-based Total Glass have helped to transform a former run-down block of flats in Liverpool.

The PVC-U and aluminium window and door fabricator installed ‘A’-rated Secured by Design-accredited windows, finished in an RAL 7016 shade, at Prescot House in Old Swan as part of a £1 million refurbishment of the 1960s three-storey building.

Other extensive works to the Liverpool Mutual Homes property included external wall insulation with coloured rendered panels and completely new interiors, creating 13 modern energy-efficient apartments.

Providing the highest levels of security to protect occupants are two award-winning Total Glass High Security Communal Entrance doors, which carry Secured by Design accreditations on both magnetic and electronic shoot bolt locking versions.

Specifically designed to withstand the toughest environments, all doors feature robust hinges, fully tamper-proof fixings and secure electronic solenoid bolt locks linking to video and entry phone systems; providing the highest levels of security to protect occupants.

Laminated and toughened glass in the large glazed panel delivers high impact resistance and safety, while also achieving low U-values depending on glass specification. This greatly improves heat retention within communal areas, reducing heating bills and carbon emissions. Glass can be customised with corporate designs and logos if required.

Enhancing buildings with their contemporary and welcoming appearance, the doors let more light into communal areas and give residents an immediate, reassuring view of visitors outside. Greater visibility helps to reduce the potential for anti-social behaviour and vandalism.

Demand for the new homes, completed on schedule and on budget last December, has been high.
