Total Glass helps Turton FC to kick off new season in style
Renowned for their love of football, the team at Total Glass was only too happy to help Lancashire’s oldest club, Turton FC, with the refurbishment of their clubhouse that has enabled the amateur players to kick off the new season in style.
The Liverpool-based PVC-U fabricator supplied five Total Glass Composite Doors and 14 PVC-U casement windows, all in a Light Oak foiled finish. These were fitted by their installer customer and conservatory supplier, Premier Conservatory Supplies, whose Managing Director Peter Gray is also Chairman of Turton FC.
Now the 144-year-old Bolton club is hoping that their improved facilities will contribute to a turnaround in their fortunes in the coming season, having lost out on promotion due to their facilities falling short of FA ground criteria.
Despite investing £90,000 on the required improvements, the club’s request for an extension to complete these in time for the new season was turned down. League officials ruled Turton would not be allowed to compete in the West Lancashire League Premier Division this season after failing to meet the March 31st ground development deadline.
The club’s petition appealing against the decision attracted more than 3,000 names, including TV presenter Vernon Kay.
Peter explains how their despair turned to delight when Total Glass stepped in. “Having been devastated by the league’s decision, we were extremely grateful to Total Glass for their kind support,” he says. “This was unexpected - although I knew what football fans they are – and their help was most welcome. The new facilities now look fantastic.”
He adds: “The improvements couldn’t have been carried out during the season as it would have damaged the pitch and caused other issues, so they were completed over the summer. Thanks to Total Glass and everyone who has supported us, we are on the road to promotion again with our first fixture in early September!”
Phill Cresswell, Total Glass Sales and Marketing Manager, commented: “Given our Group MD Frank Deary’s background in football, this is a cause close to our hearts. We always like to support our customers whenever we can.”
