Keyline Rally Raises more than £100k for Prostate Cancer UK
A 1980s themed car rally across Europe, organised by Keyline, the UK’s leading specialist supplier of heavy building materials, civils and drainage solutions, has raised £101,209 for Prostate Cancer UK.
Twenty-seven cars made up of teams from Keyline’s UK offices, local suppliers, customers and the charity, travelled from Northfleet to Hamburg, via France and Holland. All of the vehicles taking part were based around classic 1980s TV and films, including Minder, the Dukes of Hazard, Top Gun, Ghostbusters and the A-Team.
Ex-international footballer and ambassador for Prostate Cancer UK, Luther Blissett also took part in the rally, enjoying a kick-about with his fellow drivers during scheduled stopovers.
This was the fifth rally organised by Keyline, which forms an important part of the company’s overall fundraising programme for Prostate Cancer UK. Keyline also takes part in Movember, and has recently signed for Men United – the charity’s latest campaign creating a movement of men fighting against the disease.
Stephen Riggens, Marketing Director at Keyline, said: “This year’s rally was an enormous success and we are extremely grateful to everybody who donated. Raising more than £100,000 is an incredible achievement and this sum of money will make a huge difference in the fight against prostate cancer. We would like to thank everybody that took part and supported us in this very special and worthwhile adventure.”
Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, who took part in the rally alongside his co-driver and boss, Chief Executive, Owen Sharp, said: ‘Keyline have continued to be a huge support to Prostate Cancer UK and by raising over £100,000 from the rally are helping to save men’s lives. All funds raised will help us continue supporting men, providing information, and funding research into causes and treatments of a disease that kills one man every hour.
Everyone involved in our 27 car fleet threw themselves into the event and we thank everyone involved and look forward to accelerating further in 2015.’
