Group Metropolitan Plans for Further Expansion as Leadership Team Evolves to Support Growth
Leading contractor, delivering turnkey solutions in electrical, mechanical and fit out, Group Metropolitan is entering a new phase of growth and development as part of its wider strategy to strengthen its national presence, while continuing to prioritise long-term client relationships within the finance and critical infrastructure sectors.
To support this next stage of development, Group Metropolitan has evolved its senior leadership team, with Board Director Karl Warner, transitioning into the role of Operations Director, and long-serving team member Steffan Chapman stepping up into the Mechanical Director role.
Karl’s progression reflects the company’s people-first culture and long-term approach to talent development. Having joined the business as an apprentice in 2005, he has worked through every level of the organisation, gaining extensive operational and technical experience. In his new role, Karl will oversee the delivery and scalability of projects nationwide, supporting the company’s ambition to better serve existing clients across London, the South East, the Midlands, the North West and Scotland. The focus will be on expanding coverage while maintaining the high standards of quality, reliability and service that have defined Group Metropolitan’s reputation.
Commenting on the move, Karl said:
“This expansion represents a very exciting chapter for Group Metropolitan. Having been part of the business for over 20 years, I’ve seen first-hand how far we’ve come. I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved so far and I’m looking forward to focusing on our operational strategy and supporting our continued growth across the UK.”
Steffan joined Group Metropolitan in 2013 at the very beginning of its mechanical division. Through continued professional development he has progressed through the roles of Project Supervisor, Project Manager and Contract Manager, and now joins the senior management team as Mechanical Director. Steffan joined the mechanical division at its inception, and is now responsible for a team of over 35 hard-working team members and an annual turnover of over £17 million. This milestone highlights not only Steffan’s personal development through the company, but also Group Metropolitan’s ongoing investment in training and long-term career support.
Steffan notes;
“I’m proud to share that after almost 13 years with the company, I’ve been promoted to the role of Mechanical Divisional Director. This progression is a real testament to the strength of our in-house development and the opportunities provided to grow and evolve. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a superb team whose support, expertise, and commitment have allowed me to thrive within GML. I’m looking forward to the next chapter and continuing to build on what we’ve achieved together.”
Steffan’s progression mirrors the opportunities now being offered to the next generation of apprentices entering the business. Group Metropolitan continues to expand its apprenticeship programs, recognising that the construction industry's growth relies on nurturing skilled professionals who understand the company’s culture, and ambitions, from the ground up.
Graham Halls, Managing Director at Group Metropolitan said;
“The progression of both Karl and Steffan is a strong reflection of the journey Group Metropolitan is on as a business. As we continue to expand across the UK, it’s vital that we strengthen our leadership team with people who truly understand our values and our clients.”
As a leading contractor delivering turnkey solutions in electrical, mechanical and fit out, this strategic growth phrase, with experienced leadership and skilled regional teams in place, Group Metropolitan is well positioned to enter its next phrase of growth with confidence. The business remains committed to supporting customers in new locations while delivering the reliable, high-quality service that has been built and defined over the last four decades.
