Armstrong Ceilings launches "Armstrong Atelier"

Armstrong Ceilings is launching "Armstrong Atelier" at 100% Design.
Published 26 July 2011

A service designed to take the relationship between architect/designer and building interior solutions provider to unprecedented levels will be launched by Armstrong Ceilings at 100% Design this year.

Armstrong Atelier* comprises a specially recruited team of multi-talented, versatile experts comprising CAD designers, project managers and technical sales representatives and a portfolio of intelligent, efficient, cost-effective tailored ceiling and wall solutions for even the most challenging of creative and technical briefs.

The Atelier interface promises to engineer designers' creative vision, and since it has been fine tuned with the help of architects in the UK, France and Benelux over almost two years, already has a number of flagship case studies under its belt.

The Atelier team will travel to Earls Court to be on Armstrong's new stand (F114) at 100% Design to talk visitors through the concept and products and systems.

Michelle Nicholl, marketing and sales support manager for the UK and ROI, said: "Historically, we have, like all other ceiling manufacturers, walked into customers with a brochure and asked what they would like out of it. The Atelier offering is different - much more involved, totally customised. It's where we walk in and ask the customers what they want and then work out how we engineer it to their requirements."

Armstrong's peerless portfolio of materials (mineral, metal, wood, resin and fabric) and systems (including TECH ZONE which guarantees the integration of services such as lighting, air handling, loudspeakers and chilled beams) has enabled the Atelier team to prove its creative flair and deliver some stunning and technically challenging projects globally such as:

• Circular acoustic canopies for PizzaExpress' revolutionary restaurant in Richmond, London,
• Custom faceted walls and ceilings at Club Nokia at LA Live, Los Angeles,
• TECH ZONE, the customised ceiling solution run in partnership with industry leaders at Indigo Blu, Leeds,
• Customised security clips to handle the exceptional wind pressure requirements at Mile End tube station, London,
• 120,000 unique tiles for the 87,000m² curved roof at Concourse 2, Dubai International Airport.

The increased level of commitment promised by the Atelier team, from pre-project planning to post-project trouble shooting, was evident at Dubai where Armstrong ran a dedicated office for the 25 local representatives for four years.

Armstrong Atelier is a culmination of Armstrong's 150 years of expert craftsmanship and innovation in ceiling and wall solutions and its pioneering work in acoustics. The research with European architects also showed Armstrong's lead in recycling, with schemes for tile off-cuts and tiles at the end of their shelf life, was a major point of specification over its competitors.

Armstrong Atelier can be previewed on the new dedicated website www.armstrong-atelier.com from September.
