A pioneering digital learning platform has been introduced by leading security print and solutions specialists the TALL Group, allowing University students in Africa to continue their studies remotely.

The ‘TCS iON Glass Room’ is now live at Augustine University in Lagos, Nigeria, in spite of the closure of Universities in Nigeria as a result of COVID-19 Pandemic. After months of preparation with strategic technology partner Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the TALL Group has been instrumental in launching the digital solution, which provides the platform to run live lessons, exams and work collection entirely remotely.

Martin Ruda, Managing Director of the TALL Group, said: “We have an extensive academic client list across Africa, and are currently supplying bespoke secure certificate services in various countries. During this pandemic it’s important for exams and project work to continue, so our joint platform with TCS means that we can now also offer the Glass Room, an online classroom. Teachers can deliver live lessons, collect work and also send it back again via the platform. We know that virtual classrooms for educational providers can carry on the learning process and we’re delighted that Augustine University are the first to get on board.”

Three training and implementation sessions with the educational providers take place when a University signs up to the Glass Room software, before their unique portal is launched, allowing real-time learning for students wherever they are and also connecting students with their lecturers. The Glass Room is offered free of charge for 90 days from the day of activation  at which point the University can sign up to the ongoing program or walk away.

A spokesperson at Augustine University said: “It’s vital for us to allow our students to continue in their studies and Glass Room gives us the power to make this happen. The safety of our students and staff is paramount, so having the solution to provide remote learning means that we can carry on teaching even during a pandemic. The learning platform also provides a good routine for students and staff and keeps them connected and up to date.”
