Ecocleen, the leading commercial contract cleaning provider, has teamed up with uComply to streamline and simplify its Right to Work checks. The company will use the uAuthenticate mobile application across its nationwide network of franchises, so Regional Directors can immediately authenticate identity documents. This will further enhance Ecocleen’s robust staff onboarding processes by introducing real-time Right to Work checks that empower local users.

“Effective background checking and pre-employment screening is a critical part of our complete compliance with Home Office immigration guidelines,” explains Jean-Henri Beukes, Managing Director of Ecocleen. “We had previously operated a centralised system for Right to Work checks that whilst robust could also be time consuming and result in unnecessary delays in the recruitment process. The uAuthenticate mobile app will enable our Regional Directors to make immediate employment decisions, so they can quickly and efficiently fill cleaning roles while reducing any exposure to risk.”

The uAuthenticate mobile application fully validates a wide range of identity documentation including passports, visas, ID cards, driving licences, biometric cards and work or resident permits in a matter of seconds. This accurate scanning and verification procedure, with built-in Home Office guidance, will quickly determine if someone has the Right to Work in the UK and identify any fake documents. This will help franchises to speed up the recruitment process and ensure contracts have the appropriate staffing levels, while protecting Ecocleen against any potential reputational loss or fines.

Milesh Shah, Business Development Director at uComply comments: “Recent research suggests that one in twenty employees in the UK may be working illegally, so there are significant risks to employers if Right to Work checks are not carried out correctly. With fines of up to £20,000 per illegal work, there is a huge financial incentive to comply with requirements, even before you consider potential damage to a business’ brand or the threat of imprisonment. We are working with a growing number of responsible organisations such as Ecocleen that recognise the importance of effective immigration compliance.”

“We are committed to backing our franchisees with nationwide standards, systems and support, so they can provide an unrivalled local cleaning service. The uComply solution is the latest technological innovation that will deliver clear time and money saving benefits while giving us peace of mind that we are operating legally and responsibly,” adds Beukes.
